Hi

I have a weekly backup that I do and every week. every time I put in a new tape I have to format the tape before use. If I do not do this the backup fails for some reason.

I would like to know of a way where BE does the formating for me. So before running the backup job it will format the tape.

Thanks for your help

Goto - tools - options - media management and change the overwrite protection to NONE or goto your media tab and adjust the media set allow it to overwrite

Thanks for your reply. I have tried what you suggested but no luck. Still it hangs at the same stage.

Any other usefull tips mate.

Thanks.

Sound like the tape is getting full - have you checked your alerts tab - alerts history and see if there and prompts for overwritable media?

You can just move the media to Scratch media - this is in effect like overwriting the tape.
