AutoCAD DXF doesn't play well with 3d Studio Max

Hello,
I saved a floor plan as a DXF in AutoCAD. I then brought it into 3d Studio Max 3 and Extruded the walls. Depending on which angle you look at it...you may or may not see some of the walls. Please help...what am I doing wrong?

are you extruding splines? or are you connecting splines and extruding polygons? the second way is what you should be doing.
