I have a set up of a desktop machine running XP home, a desktop running Mandrake 9.1 and a laptop also running XP home. All of these machines are connected on a lan through a router.

All the machines "talk" to one another but I have a very minor annoying problem in that whenever I try to access the Linux from the XP desktop after a reboot I have to login (user & password). Once I have done this the access is no problem until the next reboot. Strangely the laptop does not have this problem!

As far as I can recall both of the XP machines are set up be same (but obviously there is some difference) Has anyone else experienced this or have any clues as to what the problem might be?

It would have to do with usernames & passwords. The Laptop's username & password must be setup on the linux computer. There is something different about the username & password on the desktop - capitalization or something maybe?. When you are on the desktop and prompted for the samba username and password, is what you enter exactly the same as the username & password for the windows desktop?

All of the machines are using the same User/password combinations (including capitalisation)
