Auto E-mail Responder

Can someone please point me in the right direction. I have a site where people will register for a class. Part of the registration is providing an e-mail address. When the person submits the registration I would like an e-mail to be automatically sent to the e-mail address provided by the person. I would like to be able to customize it depending on the class that they have signed up for.
