[blue]A report I've written is, essentially, a form letter that contains info existing in the database. One field that is output is a long narrative that can be anywhere from a couple lines to a couple pages.

Here's the problem:

[red]How do I set up the report so that the size of this particular field is adjusted automatically to the amount of the data contained in any record?

[blue]Currently, I'm outputting this field as an addendum to the form letter. I've set it up so the entire second page is available for the text in the narrative field. It would be much better if the text itself were embedded within the form letter or, at minimum, was able to run onto multiple pages. The specific problem I'm dealing with is a narrative that is longer than the one-page text box I created.

Any ideas?

The first thing you should do is set your text box to the width that you would like your text to be displayed, and have a height of only 1 line.

Secondly, in the controls properties, set the CanGrow variable to Yes.

Finally, in the report's section properties (ie; header, footer, detail...), set the CanGrow variable to Yes.

This will allow your textbox box and form to expand to accomodate any amount of text that you have stored in the database.
