Has anyone here implemented Authorization Codes? I'm thinking about setting this up in my system. I know how to activate the feature, but was wondering if any of you ran into any unexpected problems. I want to restrict all long distance calls from all phones, unless you have an authorization code. Should I let users choose their own code or should I create the codes for them? Should I give the helpdesk access to change and reset these codes? I certainly don't want to do it. This will be a company wide change that will effect a few thousand employees, so I want to make sure I don't screw it up.

Starting with a small test group might help. I have never used this before but people (users) don't like to jump through to many hoops. Srtart with a small control group first. Look!!! New Buttons
Same amount of time!

Thanks All Phoneman2

After looking at your question a little more, have thought about using FRL levels to limit long distances calls? There would be no codes unless the user wanted to lock down the phone. Look!!! New Buttons
Same amount of time!

I have been using Auth codes for about a year now and I think its a great way to go . We have alot of phones that any body can have access to lobbies , shipping areas, these phones are restricted from placing outside calls. The nice thing is you can call any where in the world from there if you have a valid auth code thus like a floating cor.I have also placed a 7 digit area in the CDR formatt to capture all codes.I have also setup security ext that is forwarded to my desk that calls me every time someone enters a invalid auth code.I can then look in the CRD and see what they are dialing and what phone they are using.
Hope this helps
