We have several PCs running Windows 98 on an NT4 network. On some PCs when accessing a password protected resource, the authentication box asks for just User Name and Password. On other PCs it asks for User Name, Password and Domain. Does anyone know why the difference?

On the Win98 client, right click on Network neighborhood and choose Properties.

Look at the setting for PRIMARY NETWORK LOGON...

If you want to see the domain stuff, choose Client for Microsoft Networks.

Also, look at the properties for CLient for Microsoft Networks...make sure the information here is correct.

The above stuff is seen on the Windows 9x clients...you need to reconfigure the client machines.

-hope this helps. Joseph L. Poandl
