I am cleaning up our Audix systems. There are numerous voicemail boxes that do not have a name recorded. Is there a way to find the current password so I can go in and record the name myself? There are several boxes that don't list a contact person in the name field and I didn't feel comfortable reseting the passwords and not informing someone of the change. Any box with a name, I am asking the owner to record their name.

I am faily sure their is no way to be able to get the passwords the users have set up . I would change their passwords so they would have no choise but to call you and have their passwords reset. Ask them at that time to record their names as it is logging errors in your event log. The one's who do not call you are probably old boxes with no users and you can remove those and really do your spring cleaning... [smile]

In the Avaya library I have found:

"You have two options for recording subscriber name fragments:

· Record them yourself in a voice that sounds similar to the one in which the AUDIX system fragments were recorded.

Subscriber names are recorded by logging in to the AUDIX system using your touch-tone telephone, accessing the administrative menu, identifying the subscriber’s extension, and speaking the name in response to AUDIX voice prompts. You must perform these tasks from the extension that has announcement control permission.

· Have subscribers record their own name recordings."

So I am curious if to know:

Is the menu you reach when dialing in considered to be the “administrative menu” or is this different?

How do I tell if I have announcement control permission on my extension?

In AUDIX, "cha sub XXXX" (XXXX = your extension). check on page 2 under permissions; change Announcement Control? to YES.

Then dial AUDIX, enter your extension and passcode, and choose (unspoken) option 9 for the admin menu.

Look at the subscriber form in Intuity on page 2. Under Permissions is the field "Announcement Control" that needs to be set to y.

After setting this field to y, log into the voicemail system as this extension. Press 9 for this option, it is not announced.

Thanks!

Great info to have, thanks. I took over my company's AUDIX with no training and appreciate all that I have learned on Tek-Tips.

Yes, thank you for all the great info!

One of our engineers was filling me in on the fact that if we turn on this record name function then the user would no longer be prompted to record their name when setting up their voicemail box, our department would have to record every name when setting up new boxes. Another concern was that the recorded name voice would differ from the greeting voice. So I don't think we are going to go down this path.

However, it was interesting to find that there is an administrator's menu. Does anyone have documentation on the various functions this menu can provide?

Your engineer is incorrect; if you enable the Announcement Control, users are still prompted to record their name when setting up a new voicemail box. In addition, users can change the recorded name of their own mailbox by selecting option 5 (Personal Options Administration Menu) and then selecting option 5 again to change the recorded name.

The Audix Admin & Feature Guide is the best guide that I've seen on Audix, although it's written for version 3.3. What version of Audix do you have?

Just FYI in case you don't have this information handy:

How to determine your version of Audix:

Sign onto Audix with the "SA" password.

From the Intuity Main Menu:
- Customer/Services Administration
- Diagnostics
- System Evaluation

This takes a while to run but gives you loads of information. You can press the Enter key to go through the pages, but the main information you want is on the first page.
