Hi,
After picking a few brains please..

I'm after any recommendations for a piece of software (prefereably freeware) which will assist us in identifying which files a windows based application uses at specific points of its processing (i.e an audit type system)

We have an application which is failing with a permissions issue. Placing the user into the local admin group solves this issue but thats a no-no but when it fails it doesnt tell us where its trying to write to so we'd like to trace file/folder usage to see if we can then pinpoint a specific location and apply appropriate permissions etc..

Any recommendations gratfully accepted

Regards

PaulSc.

Might be in the Registry too. Some older programs like to place .cfg or .ini files in the Windows folder.

What is the program that is causing the problems.

This was the recommended solution a couple of years ago, it may still be an option?

If you want to try it the file can be downloaded here (time limit temporary housing site).
