I have downloaded some videos that were originally 10 to 12 minutes in duration, they played fine up until a few days ago, now when I play them on Windows Media Player or open them in Roxio Media Creator 8 they only show about 1 1/2 minutes of duration when they were originally about 10 to 12 minutes. When I check the properties it shows the whole file still exists. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Lazarus

What kind of movies is it?(avi? mpeg?).
Whenever I can't seem to play a movie file, I turn to the ultimate video player: VLC (This is a really good freeware. Check it out, and if it doesn't work, try reinstalling your codecs. There is alot of free codec packs out there.

Wherever you downloaded them from was there any warning that this may happen or may be by design?

This thread may offer you a few clues about the standard codec pack downloadable from Microsoft and some others if that one fails to work.

This one also covers that ground but talks about DirectX too.
