Where is the boost checkbox for a microphone like win98 had?
My mic is so low it's not worth using.
Yes, I have turned it all the way up etc...
Is there a 3rd party preamp application or something?

Control Panel/ Sounds and Audio Devices/ Volume/ Advanced/

Bring up the Microphone Volume Control and click Advanced (under the Mute box), then select Boost.

ok, I know all that. There is no boost available, There was in previouse windows os's, but not in xp that I can find.
Must be a proprietary thing with c-media (my onboard sound)
