Would like to know if it is possible to replace an ATX-250W
power supply with an ATX-300W power supply without doing any damage to the pc?

Have upgraded a number of PC's including PSU.
I usually use a 350W. Have never had a problem.
The output voltage from the connectors will reamin the same.
The increased rating will allow you to add more devices ie. HD or CDROM.

The only problen would be if it is a proprietary PC such as Dell. Some manufacturers force you to use their PSU or use an adapter, but for the majority of PCs the PSUs are standard and going to the 350W would be no problem.

Just make sure it is a "quality" power supply. A Good 250 can be better than a "cheapo" 300! If you are going to 300, you might as well spend 5.00 more and go 350. This should be sufficient for anything but a server.

An increase in "capacity" just means the new PSU will have more in reserve so thats a healthy position for your PC to be in and no problems there! and there would be absolutely no detrement going upto a 650watt PSU if you wanted but that would just be overkill for the average PC demands.
Quality! as others have mentioned, is much better than quantity, so spend a few extra $$$'s for peace of mind.
