Bit of a long winder I know but

Here is the scenario.

Potential five sites linked by ADSL VPN.

HO i.e. central site has 2M link orbitals have 512K.

I am only interested in one of these remote sites at the present.

HO has NT4 domain + exchange site remote site has SBS W2K + exchange.

I am testing out moving mailboxes for users on SBS site to HO. Therfore providing Outlook via Citrix. Works great for sending and reciving e-mail and scheduling etc.

However they need to deal with attachments. They need to work with the attachments locally (CAD), not providing thru Citrix for obvious reasons. Therefore they need to upload and download these potentially large files.

Complication : all e-mail from the outside world comes into HO and is posted on at present to the SBS site. via VPN.

Using outlook from citrix they are swamping the line and causing a percieved reduction in performance, it crawls and can get disconnected etc. This is with only one test user.

At the moment their perception is that they get their e-mail when they get their e-mail i.e. the attachments are already local when they recieve notification of new mail, in the citrix world they recieve the e-mail quicker but because of dowload speed they percieve downloading as a hinderence.

They are actually not getting it any quicker just their perception is hat it is slower.

I have thought about public folders and maybe even an FTP site even Packetshaper to protect ICA traffic.

Any one got any left field alternatives or even state the bleeding obvious that I have missed ?

Any ideas are gratefully accepted. [bigears]

Cheers
Scott
