I have been tryin gti install the 8.3 drivers for Vista and always get an error half way thru saying installer corrupt?

Anyone have this problem and know how to correect it?

Maybe the driver install is corrupt, have you tried new install files?

What is the file extension of the installer files, can you right-click on them and use the "Run As Administrator" option?

Have you tried installing from Safe Mode if possible, or disabling all virus scanners etc?

Well, after a bit of troubleshooting I figured out that when I overclock my CPU and decompression routines fail. This is what was causing my failing updates with my ATI radeon 2600 xt. I have finally updated the Catalyst software but the driver itself does not seem to exist in any of the updates that ATI provides. If I load it from my CD that came with the Baord I see the driver in the list, but when I load it from the downloadable updates there are no display drivers present. So the new question now is: what exactly is being updated? the display driver or the catalyst software?

On a hunch I ran the Vista advisor and to my surprize Vista says that my Radeon 2600 XT is NOT compatable with Vista. I am looking right at the box and it says it is. So, the ? is now who will correcvt this problem, ATI? or M$? or Asrock? I have a feeling neither one will and I will be forced to throw away a perfectly good video card and have to buy a new one.

Anyone want to trade for an AGP ATI Radeon 2600 XT 512?

I tried those fixes and it did not solve the problem. When I run Google earth or windowsa media player the screen goes black and the system locks.

I reached out to ATI and even though they say its compatable they refuse to help me. Nice company.

Question: what version of Vista do you have? 32bit or 64bit...

Have you tried OLDER versions of the Catalist drivers? like 7.7...

if you have 32bit Vista, maybe you could try the Omega Drivers (64 bits are not available yet)...

Also as I have posted in the other thread, updating the BIOS may be an option here... I would also set the AGP Aperture Size to 128mb or above, this helps in some instances...

I have been throiugh all the normal procedures. BIOS at latest, Catalyst at latest and have tried other versions. I'm hoping SP1 fixes it, or I'll get anotrher video card and never buy ATI again.
