I'm building my own comp and was just wondering if anyone had a Athlon + GeForce2 config that didn't prove to be too much of a hassle. I've heard of many problems with such a combo, so i'm rethinking my components.

Tentative Setup:

Athlon @ 800mhz
Asus K7V Motherboard
256mb PC-133 Ram
Elsa Gladiac 64mb DDR
SB Live! Un I think you are confusing the Geforce (1) not the Geforce 2, the problems you heard about mostly were related to Athlon motherboards that used the old AMD Irongate AMD-751 chipset, now they have VIA KX133 chipset boards availible which I recomend if getting any high powered video card.
Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=
Experienced in , or have messed with : VC++, Borland C++ Builder, VJ++6(starting),VB-Dos, VB1 thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, Borland C++ 3(DOS), Borland C++ 4.5, HTML, ASP(somewhat), QBasic(least i didnt start with COBOL)

Stay clear of the Elsa boards btw, they may be first on shelf, but they're illegal:

this from nvnews.net

Got word from the webmaster of Rizenet of the following post:

I got some major scoopage here! I just got off the phone with someone in the industry who revealed that NVIDIA is now in a major lawsuit with ELSA over the ELSA GLADIAC GeForce2 GTS boards. Anyone who has seen the GLADIAC's will notice that they were the first in stores; this is no coicidence. ELSA illegally shipped the boards early to get a jump on the competition. Not only this, but the boards aren't really even theirs. They are nearly 100% reference NVIDIA. ELSA bought reference boards, labeled them, and shipped them to stores. As if this wasn't enough, they also shipped them with premature drivers. The Detonator 5.16's which were leaked last week were not supposed to have shipped with any GTS boards; 5.18 is the shipping revision. ELSA ignored this, and shipped the boards anyways, not only leaking premature drivers but also shipping them without proper software. I'd say ELSA's pretty much screwed.

If this is true, it could very possibly ruin the Elsa/nVidia relationship. Remeber it's Elsa that has across the board nVidia support, it makes a card from every chipset, from the lowly Vanta to the GTS.

Karl
kb244@kb244.8m.com
<a href=
Experienced in , or have messed with : VC++, Borland C++ Builder, VJ++6(starting),VB-Dos, VB1 thru VB6, Delphi 3 pro, Borland C++ 3(DOS), Borland C++ 4.5, HTML, ASP(somewhat), QBasic(least i didnt start with COBOL)
