We've come across an old ATA and are able to make and receive calls froma cordless handset. However, to put calls on hold and do any other feature code, I keep seeing references to 'hitting Flass Hook (Link)' but I have no idea what this is!

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but what is a Flash Hook, and how do I dial it with a touch tone phone?

I already have all of the ATA feature codes from the FAQ.

Thanks!!

it may be labeled as recall or flash or link.
It is a button that causes the phone to “hang up” for a specified number of milliseconds.

If your phone has none of these buttons, you can try with the talk/ answer key, but it might not work. You may have to get a newer/ better phone that does have a flash/recall button.

Thanks bkrike.

If I hang up and pick up at the right speed, I can get the phones to sound as if the call is held.

I guess I need to work out which feature codes they will realistically need. Perhaps simply sending calls to the analogue phones is enough for them.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

bkrike. I have a question myself.

I have a ATA hooked up to x235 it has I/C as prime, and I use flash & then 9 to get an outside line. Paging works(flash & 60), but if I try to transfer using flash 70 then the ext, all the system does is park the call for everyone to pick up.

Is the ATA(old version) limited to feature codes?

jerobert, I'm nor bkrike, but I do have an answer for you.
You need to insert a * after the flash for the feature codes to work.
The * equals the FEATURE button.
The 2 equals the HOLD button.

The very, very old ATA's (tall case, permanently attached power cord transformer) were somewhat limited, but the last two generations of ATAs work just fine.

Check the Norstar FAQ section - there's an entire list of codes available from the ATA.
