I tried to call forward a single line cordless at X-210 which is using an ATA.

I found a link that said:

Link*4 DN Link *2(hold for the ATA)
Or Link *4 9XXX-XXXX Link *2

As soon as I dialed FLASH then *4 I get an internal dial tone and it won;t forward.

Also when it works properly you only need Link * 4 plus external or internal number. You do not need the Link * 2 at the end of the key sequence.

am I assuming that I first get a dial tone on the set?

also we were talking about the link button it is actually b flash button correct ?

Yes & Yes. There is also a Link timer some where in the programming. The default is 600 milliseconds & has always worked for me.
