What is the difference between the ATA ( Meridian ) and the ATA2?

HOw would that effect using it for a Credit Card machine?

I seem to be having a HIGH voltage problem with the ATA that I am installing. I have installed them in the past but never had a problem with high voltage on my test set. I have tried 2 other and get the same thing. When I go off with my test set I hear dial tone for a moment then it drop off. I thought I had the ext configured properly for a HOTLINE with a PAUSE.

Am I missing something?

For credit card machines, I usually just give it pool access, and program the card reader to dial 9.

When I plugged in just the ATA and connected my test set to it the voltage was around 78.

78V DC or AC? The output (analog) side of the ATA should give about 50VDC idle, and around 10VDC off-hook. Have you tried another digital port for the input?

Go ti tto work Thanks. Can I use an older ATA on a MICS?

If it's one of the old ATA's with the hard wired power supply you can get these to give outside dialtone when going off hook. Just set its prime line to pool.
