I have recently purchased an ATA2 in order to add a fax machine to my workplaces Norstar 0x32 system. Unfortunately this came without a power supply. I have been informed that you can use any decent 18-24v, 500+ ma supply with a 5 pin Din plug using pins 1 and 5.
Obviously I don't want to end up killing the thing.
Is the above advice true or should I ignore it. I have seen 'proper' power supplies available but they are quite expensive.
I am no wiring expert and there seems to be lots of different specs of transformers available. I am worried about things like polarity, whether the supply should be DC/AC/regulated/exactly 24v or 600ma (as stated on the rear of the unit) etc.
Please help.
PS I am resident in th UK (240v AC supply).
