I have an ASUS P5A motherboard with a 300 MHz AMD K2 CPU with a Matrox Millennium G200 AGP video card. I used the computer fine for over a year.

One day, the character video would no longer display, however, the graphics mode video works fine! The character mode video will not display or provide a video signal on bootup or anytime after.

The computer is running Windows 98 and once it switches to graphics mode, everything is fine unless I try to open a DOS window. Even a graphics DOS window will not work. I get an Windows error and the computer usually hangs.

I have changed out the graphics card without any luck. The new video card behaved the same way. I have check the monitor with another computer and it works fine. I can access the bios by using the screens in the manual but it is a pain.

I suspect the character video processing on the motherboard is bad. If anyone has any suggestions, I would gladly appreciate the help. [sig][/sig]
