The power supply on one of our office computers died a spectacular death recently(sparks, smoke, fire...the works). It was definitly the most exciting thing to happen in the office in a long time. I replaced the power supply and now when I turn on the computer it makes a "HEE haw" sound, something like a British police car. I've surfed the net looking for Award BIOS beep codes and have found various lists of, 1 long 2 short etc. but nothing that would describe this "HEE haw".

Does anyone know what this motherboard is trying to tell me? I'm hoping it's not "I'm dead"!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If its the same board as mine, Asus A7V133-C, its one of the cooling fans, probably the CPU fan, either not working at all or the RPMs are below whatever safe threshold is set in the BIOS. Note that the RPM only has to drop momentarily below the threshold and the Hee Haw will sound continuously until you reboot. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

You didn't mention if your machine now is working. Probably it's not!(but i wish it's working). Try to cleanup the mess caused by that "exciting thing" inside your machine specifically the board!
