Is there any way to assign the results of the docmd.runsql to a variable. I have tried the usual ways and those ways are not working. any help is apprecitated. Thanks

The DoCmd.RunSQL method admits ACTION query only, so NO result to grab ...

Hope This Helps, PH.

Would I use querydef? I need to get the results of a query into a variable to compare to see if those results have been used previously (like comparing a generated number to a list of previous numbers).

Have a look at the DLookUp function.
