When assigning a macro to a toolbar button, does anyone know of a means to incorporate an environment variable into the command line string (e.g. c:\documents and settings\%username%\my documents\attachmate\macros\test.ebm).

Given that the toolbar will be distributed amongst a large number of users, my goal is to eliminate the need to re-assign the buttons on each workstation.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Have you considered putting the macro in a static directory that will not change PC to PC, say c:\program files\e!pc\macros. Maybe just c:\macros would work better.

To directly answer your question, I don't know of any way to use the environment as part of the path.

Thank you, Calculus. Unfortunately, the machines are quite "locked-down", and developers are discouraged from creating new folders off the root.

I had tried your suggestion using a LAN folder, however some folks experienced a degradation in performance.

I agree with previous post... If the systems have the emulator loaded, then the file he mentioned: C:program Files\E!PC\Macros\ is already there.

I also mass distribute to my users using a batch file when they log on to the system and due Windows includes user ids in the directory to My Documents, I have to put templates (Word, Excel) in a non-user specific folder. I use the sessions folder for those files.
