NT 4.0 Server running Arcserve 2000, sp4 on Arcserve. Runs two huge (350gb each) backup jobs simultaneously to a san attached Dell 136 tape library. Arcserve Database usually gets screwed up so I deleted astpsdat a couple of weeks ago. The backup jobs can run 36 hours sometimes; when I looked in task manager I saw, no exaggeration, 50 asrunjob.exe's, each with their own PID. Any thoughts on this -- ok? Not ok? Should I blow away all the databases?

I'd say not ok. You should only have one asrunjob for each executing arcserve job. when the ARCserve job is done, the asrunjob should also terminate. They could be hung up on your database.
