This is my first time posting here, but I been unsuccessfully trying to find information about Oracle HR outside of the Oracle website. I am currently an Active Server Pages (ASP) programmer that works with VBScript, Visual Basic, HTML, SQL etc. I been doing ASP for three and a half years. I also play with ASP.Net and PHP on the side. Our head boss, which is not the one I directy answer to, has made the decision to switch to an Oracle COTS solution rather than having in-house web based solutions in order to save money. I don't know much about Oracle outside of them having DBs and applications, but Oracle HR and Oracle Discover are some of the buzzwords I heard going around when it came to us. I am mad because they are going to make me work fulltime in this shop. Knowing that I will no longer has access to source code or databases makes me rather disappointed. Will becoming an Oracle "configurator" decrease my job marketability.

Yes and No. My guess is that Oracle "configurator"s are rare birds and will be paid well when there is a job opening. But there won't be as many jobs. Web programmers are common as sparrows and get paid accordingly.

I see. Well, it looks like I am going to have to find me another job. For some reason, I get the feeling this "configurator" title is going to make me feel underused.
