Hi All;

I have switched to using SQL Server 2000 to store my ASP.NET 1.1 sessions in a table. The thing is I have set sessions to expire after 30 minutes, but they are not doing so. The ASPStateTempSessions table has grown to over 50000 records and even after not browsing the site for over 48 hours I am still logged in.

Can anybody give me some advice on what is happening?

Regards

If entries in the ASPStateTempSessions table are not removed after the related sessions expire, make sure that the SQL Server agent is running. You can implement this functionality through stored procedures that are scheduled through jobs in SQL Server. The SQL Server agent manages these jobs.

I'm not sure if the above quote means that MS want you to create your own SP to remove the entries or whether there is already an SP to do this, but either way it should help solve the problem. For more info see:

Perfect, that was the exact issue.

I checked and the install script I used to create SQL Server Session Management does automatically create the SP's and scheduled tasks required to remove expired sessions.

After starting the agent everything was 100% again.

Thank you!
