I'm looking to find out how ASA is setup to connect. I have 2 CLAN boards with ip addresses that end in .33 and .34. my ASA properties are set to connect to ip address .32. I have to move the cables for my clan boards from 1 network switch to another. What will happen to my ASA connection when this happens if anything and how do I get around that if there's an impact as I won't be able to do anything on the switch if I lose my connection?

usually your ASA would be set to connect to the IP of your S-Series server, if you have an S87XX, you would use the "Active" IP (as opposed to Server A or Server B)

You can use your CLANs, if you add a "SAT" service to each CLAN, on the "change ip-services" form.

If I want to use dialup in case I lose the IP connectivity.. in ASA I can setup to use a modem but what happens when it dials in. Someone mentioned having to login with an adminras account first and then lauch asa..

yes, you need to create a login of type "remote", with a password, when you RAS in, you login with this remote login/pw, then the PPP connection assigns you an IP address, and you connect to that IP address, for CM, Web, etc.

all using ASA?

Depends on what version of CM you have, CM4 & CM5, logins are administered in the web page, CM3 or lower, yes, you ad logins in CM.

When I moved my CLAN connections it was so fast that I didn't lose my ASA thankfully. However, I was messing around a bit and couldn't seem to figure out how to set ASA up via dialup. is there formal doc on this?

I can't configure ASA to be dialup via modem and enter my switch # in there and get a login prompt I can just use my ID and pword with? i'm not clear on what I'm supposed to do.
