I am using ASA 1.11 and trying to edit a vector. I know how to insert a line normally, but everytime I try to hit F6 or click the F6 edit button at the top toolbar I see an error at the bottom that says "PC terminal type not supported" I have tried 513 615 and VT100 as the emulator type in the settings to no avail. Can anyone offer advice on how to use this insert feature that the help file says is the proper way to do this? OR can someone tell me how to insert a line in a vector while using the terminal attached to the G3?

Well, tell that to my PC :) it does not work.

odd..
works on that release of ASA here.. you try uninstall reinstall?

No, but I will if you think it will help. I will repost afterwards.

had the same thing when I was running ASA 1.9, upgraded to the 1.13 and F6 worked.

Yeah, well that may be what I need to do since re-installing didn't help. How can I obtain the upgrade?

You ARE in emulation mode, not GEDI right?

I can use the F6 method just fine in GEDI through my ASA (1.12). You should be able to get an upgrade from your Avaya account manager or business partner - it's not posted on the Avaya website.

No I am trying to do this from GEDI. According to the built in help, this is supposed to be possible. you hit F6 and it allowd you to insert a line into the Vector. Does someone know a way to do this in the emulator?

I didn't think that the edit option was available in the version of ASA.

You should be able to do this using emulation.

This is from the help file when I do a search for insert and vector;

Inserting a step into a vector

It is easy to add a vector step and not have to retype the entire vector. This example adds announcement 4005 between Step 3 and Step 4 in vector 20.
To insert a new vector step in vector 20:

1 Start GEDI for the switch you want to administer.
2 Type change vector 20 and press the ENTER key.
The call vector screen appears.
3 Press F6 on your keyboard.
4 Click the "Insert before" radio button and type the number of the line before which you want to add the new line.
5 Click OK.
6 Type the new vector step.
We’ll type announcement 4005 (Please wait...).
7 Press Enter.
8 Click to close the window.

Tip:

When you insert a new vector step, the system automatically renumbers the rest of the vector steps and all references to the vector steps. The switch inserts a "*" when the numbering needs more attention.

So does anyone know how to insert a step in the emulator without having to re-write the whole thing?

In emulator when you have typed "ch vec xx", you can simply press F6, then under the vector steps you have a prompt "Edite (i/d). Either press i (insert) or d(delete) then leave a space and enter the line that you want to add/delete.

Example "i 2" - would knock the current line 2 down to line 3 leaving step 2 blank.

You can also use the "edit" button from the top of the emulation screen.

Thank You Thank You Thank You. :) It has been years since I used that and I knew there had to be a way through the emulator since I couldn't get the GEDI to cooperate. Thanks again!
