Our company just finished the purchase of a small company and we will start the process of merging the two databases. The small company is using AS400 (I'm have no info of equipment nor OS version). I'm just going ahead of the game doing research. We have a Alpha DS10 running open VMS 7.3. We will need to bring the database from the AS400 to the VAX or even a front end server like MS SQL. My Question is:
is there ODBC drivers fro AS400 or can the tables be converted into comma or tab delimited files???

Thanks for any info

If you have the IBM client access,, there is usually an odbc driver include with that. You can setup the AS400, as an odbc source, and then get into the data.

On the AS/400, you can convert physical files to comma-delimited files by using the CPYTOIMPF (Copy to Import File) command. The FTP client on the AS/400 will take care of the EBCDIC to ASCII conversion.
