ARS Routing for two locations, two area codes

Here is the problem:

We are adding a location in a separate area code, but will use IP phones (so they are on the same switch.) We are also bringing in trunking via t1 over our network, from that same foreign NPA.

So, the trunking will look like a local trunk, and can be routed accordingly in our route pattterns.

Now, the users in that office will be dialing 7-digit numbers as they are used to. (We do already use Partition groups for other locations, but they are all in the same area code as the main office - this is the first time that we are adding a new area code.)

BUT, what happens when someone in the main office wants to dial that same 7 digit number, but uses the area code first?
(11 digits). How does ARS ANAL determine that? There are duplicate exchanges in both area codes, so we are a bit confused as to how to proceed.

I believe that Locations will enter into this somehow, but again, I've never used them before.

Any input would be appreciated!

Look into the command " Change ars digit conversion" If the user dials 123-4567 on this form you can change the digits to 555-123-4567 and route it via ars aar etc.

hope this helps

1a2 to ip I seen it all

That would work OK if I was able to use SEPARATE ARS tables, but that would involve location numbers.

I think that I have a solution anyway, using my partition route table: If someone from my new office dials a 7-digit number, ARS will use the partition index, and a different route will be used for that person (Based on their COR and the corresponding time-of-day chart). In the past, i used hnpa/fnpa in the ars table, but I found out that by using the 'natl' format, I can pretty much have the individual route pattern entries handle whether or not to use the area code or not.

So, I may have found the solution anyway.

Thanks for the help!
