Where do I go to find the ARS digit absorption table. My
customer is changing dial tone providers and I need to remove the "9". Any ideas..thanks

9 is the administered feature access code for ARS. To change this go to "cha fea". Make sure you understand the implications this may have on your dial plan!

Hope this helps!

Yes I did see that in the FAC. However, I know they dial "9" to dial out of the system....how will this affect
the system dial out procedure.

Currently, calls that are prefixed with a 9 will be analyzed to determine the best route, and FRL level for the route, which in turn will allow/deny FRL-level access. ARS will also allow specific digits to be denied, such as 1900, 1976, etc. If that FAC is changed, ALL users will have to dial the new FAC for ARS access, not just a single user. If everyone is using TACs instead, then this would not affect them. You also would not want to make this FAC the same first digit as your extensions in your dial plan. For obvious reasons, the system will think you are accessing ARS, not dialing a local extension. I'm not sure, but it might not even let you do that if there are translations that would conflict. What are you trying to accomplish by changing the ARS FAC?

Dan,

It sounds to me like your customer currently has Centrex lines or some other type of arrangement with the LEC that requires a 9 outpulsed before the phone number. I don't believe the 9 you are looking for has anything to do with the 9 people dial to acces the ARS table (which doesn't have to be a 9, some people use 8, some use another digit). The 9 I believe you are looking for is an inserted digit in the route pattern. Check your route patterns and see if any insert a 9 before outpulsing the dialed digits. Removing this inserted 9 should take care of your issue. Hope this helps.

I have a g3v6...your are right about my situation...I have
looked at the route patterns and I'm not seeing the inserted "9". Can you be more specific as to what screen
I just might find this info. Thanx

Dan
Are they dial 9 twice?
If not, what they are doing is dialing 9 to access the ars system, this then analizes the remaining numbers to route the call. example 9 1 232 555 1324
If this is the way they are dialing you don't want to eliminate the 9.

Dan, if you list the route patterns you will not see the field that Dave is referring to but if you display the specific route patterns they should show up. Just a thought. I'm currently inserting a "9" for Centrex as well however, I'm on v8. Good luck!

I found the field and am a happy camper.
Guys...thanks for the time & info.

Dan
