Hi:

Can somebody tell me how check the ARS (Automatic Route Selection). For Definity or other PBX the ARS is the same, but I don't know how is in the Meriadian option 11c.
This PBX have "ARS" because have Tellulars and when I dial a cellphone the call go for the tellular.
How can check the routes and the ARS.
I don't know if ARS is the same that Alternative routing for DID.

Thank's.

I could be thinking of something totally wrong, but that would be in your BARS/NARS configuration.

First, find the NPA or NXX entry you are trying to map. This is done in LD 90.
Code:
REQ PRT
CUST 0
FEAT NET
TRAN AC1 or AC2
TYPE NPA or NXX or SPN
NPA *Enter the number here*
Once you have this, you will get an RLI entry with the data printed from above. Now go to LD 86
Code:
REQ PRT
CUST 0
TYPE RLB
RLI *Enter the RLI from the first step here*
This will then provide you with the Routes defined, in order, for the outbound call . You will see an ENTR 0 as the first option, then ENTR 1, ENTR 2, and so on. The system will try to route the call out each entry in the order defined in the RLI. You can then look at things like the FRL and NCOS map to see if there is blocks for certain phones on certain trunks.

I realize some of this is probably overstated, but this can get you started. I believe Gene Trout has a great tutorial on this, but the link I had does not appear to be correct. Someone else might be able to post it, or provide the link to a FAQS on this.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.

like scott said ars is defined in ld 90. 86 and 87.. check the books and ask questions here

nickle tour: southern style

dial 9, if that is defined as ac 1, that takes you to ld 90..

3 types of numbers are defined there spn (1010288) npa (1803) and nxx (434)

that maps to a rlb/rli, so i dial 9 1803,

ld 90
prt
0
net
ac1
npa 1803

rli 1
(plus more stuff you can look up later)

that dial string takes me to 86

prt
rlb
1

stuff
route 3 (which route to send the call)
more stuff
etc

frl 3....facility restriction level
dgi 1 .. digit mulipation (spell check that) index
may or may not be used 0 denotes not in use

prt
dgt
1

del 1
insert

that would delete the 1st digit, the 1 in 1803, the 9 is auto stripped by ld 90

another thing to check, ld 87 prt nctl, 0 7, that is a translator, frl to ncos, normal is frl 1 to ncos 1 thru frl 7 to ncos 7.. you can through a twist in there, but i've never seen a reason to..

another point, the 1st three letters of class, can bypass other types of ld 90/86 software.. unr/fre etc need to be looked into..

another point tgar/targ if those two match ie the same number on the station as the trunk, the call is blocked.

i still don't know why nortel didn't call it ars

John, I would pay much more than a nickle for that tour. You need to adjust your rates.

Why call it ARS when you can come up with a dozen TLA's to explain the same thing? I always thought that was the main role of telecom vendors and workers; to come up with more Three Letter Acroynms than anyone else.

could be, i remember ars from a class decades ago, but don't recall which switch, mitel maybe.. that tour gets you to the right load, after you see the outline, nortel routing is not that bad.. but like a rolm buddy of mine says, why do you have to tell the switch the same thing 12 times.. his example was cdr, rolm.. cnfg start spool start cdr.. in a nortel ld 17 ld 15 ld 16 etc.. i tell him it puts the T back in tech
