I want to access the data files on my Directv eSATA drive. It is in Linux I am told. So I decided to see if I could get Linux to run on my PC (I will probably use it for maybe 30 minutes). Twenty years ago I used a lot of Unix which is a pretty close language on my old 386 running MS-DOS. It seemed like a reasonable approach (frequently used) to download Ubuntu Linux. It took several days but I finally got it loaded. I have a dual boot setup. When I turn on the PC, I get what I am calling a MS-DOS or Command Language screen (like you get when you hit F2 or F8 or F12 repeatedly at bootup). It gives me the option to bootup in VISTA (Highlighted) or Ubuntu which is a second choice. You get 10 seconds to use the arrow keys to select what you want. Sounds pretty straight forward so far, right? Anyhow the arrow keys don't work.
Any suggestions??
TYVM!!

Is it a USB Keyboard, and if so, are all the USB settings in the Bios enabled?

You hit right on it. I had a USB keyboard at my knee which I plugged and rebooted into Ubuntu with no problem!!
I had a similiar problem about 3 years ago. My poor old 71 year old brain just isn't what it used to be.
Many Many Thanks for your input!!

You're welcome. You are young enough to remember how great life was before computers.
