Are tables available for download?

I am curious to know if Access database tables of common information (or compatible datasets) are available for download on the WWW.

To clarify, I'd like to add the State Sales Tax Rates for all 50 states to a "States" table in my database. One can imagine the great time savings if I can locate such info, scoop it up and pour straight into my table, as opposed to having to manually enter the data. I cannot purchase software for this purpose, since I'm just a student.

And beyond the Sales Tax Rates, I'm interested in knowing if this is a practice that is generally done for adding data (commonly used kinds of data such as this) to a project.

Good idea. However, it would have to be from a site like this one, where everyone pitches in to help everyone by offering knowledge and data.

I doubt whether companies would make information like that available for viewing as their data is exactly that, their's.
