We have a couple of dozen 9608s out and they are working just fine. Couple of odd things, but nothing insurmountable. We have a small system that should be going in now and we really don't care for the 9620 phones as much (have to navigate for everything instead of just pressing a button). And even though they're on sales hold, I'm thinking of using the 9608 phones anyway. I know that it won't be a supported install. What would you do?

Just do it.
We have issues sometimes but we hear nothing from customers with those phones.
I think that small network issues cause these issues.

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I've put in a couple hundred on several systems. So far nothing insurmountable. Seems that if they make it through the initial upgrade OK then you're fine.

Issues I've had with customers and the 9608s we use in house.

Buttons light when they shouldn't. For example I have a lamp on right now for an "Account Code" button that sometimes has a green and red lamp and others has just a green. There should be no light on an account code button.

My ABT35 headset does not always operate the electronic hook switch so often I must hit the Headset button on the phone to activate it manually.

When on a call the 4 buttons at the bottom of the display do not always update properly. I'll often have the Redial/Status/blank/Features on the display when on an active call unless I put the call on hold and pick it back up.

Those are my only real issues with the phones. I see this same behavior on all phones in-house and similar issues with customer sites. As you said nothing you can't work around if the customer is willing to be reasonable.
