Arcserve7 limited to 8 characters

I try searching for a file in the restore feature (restore tree). When I enter the file name it only permits 8 characters. The file name is greater than 8 characters. Is there a work around? What am I missing here? Thanks

You have to type in the DOS filename of the file, ie the 8.3 filename rather than the long filename. If you don't know the DOS filename, use *.* as the wildcard. This will restore all files under your chosen directory but I am sure you can live with that as long as it restores your file.
