I was trying to load the Backup manager and SQL agent on the server, but it would not let me select any of the install options. So I was wondering if our version of Arcserve (v9) was not compatible with the server's OS.

The server has 3 VMware sessions on it and I am trying to install to the host OS which is Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition x64.

I didn't see anything on CA's compatibility matrix that said it was or was not compatible with 64bit technology.

Thanks for any thoughts on this!

Nope 11.5 was the first version to really support 64 bit for anything other than the Open File Agent and basic Windows agent. Versions prior to 11.5 only really supported IIRC IA-64 (Itanium Architecture), whereas 11.5 support both IA-64 and x64 (AMD & Intel Xeon EM64T).

The SQL agent is one of the agents that has 64 bit support. For more info see the 11.5 matrix here:

and before you think it, no, you can't use an 11.5 agent with a 9.0 base :)
