arcserve: second dat request

I have "Brightstore ArcServe Backup" (rel. 11.1 build 3060) installed on windows 2000 server.

I use 36/72GB DAT (but i have to save 50GB)
the job has "compression" flag

since some days ago i have this message (i translate from italian....^_^):

Error 3828
type: W3828
Unable to find the device or a blank device. (DEVICE=devname, SEQ=2)

i have already used cleaner dat, i tried to change device,
but the problem remain.

curiosity: if a start the job manually it goes EVER on success...NEVER if it start from scheduler....

What's the problem?
please help me

Try doing a quick erase pluss on the tape prior to the job.

I have specified in "backup options" of the job "overwrite device" so I format each time the job start: is it right

is it what you mean? or you mean i have to format manually?

(since 5 days ago i format manually every day before insert dat...)

may you explain me how can i do a "quick erase pluss"?

Device Manager window
highlight the tape
click Erase
check Quick Erase Plus

Done only one time, after that the tape should be automatically reused without a problem.
