ARCserve Backup 9.0 (Build 2020) on Windows 2000 Server

I have a Windows 2000 Server running ARCserve 9.0 on a Windows 2000 Server. There are five backup tapes and it normally backsup directories from three different Servers.
Normally, after inserting the tapes into the drive, I go into Quick Start/Device & Right Click on the Backup Device and Select 'Inventory Offline Slots'. I then right Click again & Select 'Erase' - Quick Erase plus - destroy label & serial no'. The Backup runs automatically @ 2am, but lately it is only writing to one of the tapes. When I mount the magazine the next morning, the other four appear as <Blank Media>.

If you are suddenly using less tapes, then the backup may not be complete. The only error I see in the job log is this:

E8602 Failed to read from database. (DBNAME=master, EC=JORDAN:[SQL Server] szSqlState = 37000,fNativeError = 4212, errMsg = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot back up the log of the master database. Use BACKUP DATABASE instead.)

However, this is the master database only. I highly doubt this caused the rest of the backup to fail. A master database is not typically very big.

The job is backing up 467MB of data. Is that usual?

I don't see any mention of file system backups in the job log you posted. Are the other machines backed up in separate jobs? You should review the job logs for all jobs to see how much data was backed up and what was missed.

Thanks ACiDelic for the feedback, it should be backing up far more than 420Mb of data, it backsup the Homefolders of approx 40 users, a few SQL Server Databases, some Exchange Mailboxes and other directories.

I am using the same number of tapes as always and have not done anything different (That I am aware of).

Would it be easier to just setup a new Backup Job from scratch?

according to the log information. This is only a backup of the SQL transaction log files using the SQL agent. I don't see any folders or exchange mailboxes as mentioned. The job is even called 'transaction log backup'. Transaction log backups don't use any data so according to the log nothing is wrong.
Check the 'source' view of the backup when modifying the job. Also check the SQL agent settings (by right clicking the SQL agent icon in the source view
