Hi All,

When I do the whole CD disaster recovery procedure on a Win2000 machine with Oracle running on it, will I have to recover Oracle database separately when restoring the machine or DR will take care of it?

Thanks!

The database and the DB Agent have to be up and running, so DR can not be used.

If you can manage to do a full 'cold' (flat file) backup of the server then you should be able to bring the complete machine, including Oracle, back in one procedure : the disaster recovery process.
In order to backup a database server however you have to be sure that ALL files are being backed up by shutting down the database(s) or by using an open file agent.
the BrightStor/ARCserve DR Option can be a helpful tool but test and document it thoroughly. It will never be a 100% safe and fool proof option.

regards
