ARCServe 2K jobs crash repeatedly

Running ARCServe 2K in single Win2K server environment w/ Win2K SP2. Running Exch 2K w/ SP1 and ISA. Also have Exch 2K Agent for ARCServe, have SP2 for ARCserve and patch LO85115.

Issue:

Backup jobs crash constantly. Activity log show no errors sometimes, sometimes says 7213 unable to write to named pipes object. Backup jobs complete successfully, but crashing occurs during the reschedule of the jobs. Have turned on debugging mode, but logs still do not indicate any errors.

Just a note. Been working with CA on this for over 3 months!!! They have been unable to determine a solution, but as some may know, CA's tech support leaves much to be desired.

Hope someone has an answer, I would appreciate the help!

I had sort of a similar problem. Sometimes no errors, sometimes it crashed. Discovered the problem was related to the SCSI chain. I had a new machine with a faster SCSI bus than the older DLT 7000 would support. Once I stepped down the speed in the SCSI utility for the port the DLT device was on, the errors went away.
