I've got it set up so that the backup server contains an internal 35/70 DLT and is also connected to a TL891R, The normal gfs backups run in the tl891r, and the adhoc backups run from the internal 35/70 DLT. My problem is that when the backup runs and completes in the 35/70DLT, I look throught the restore window by session, and see the two sessions but nothing opens up underneath. I can remerge a tape in, and the first session opens up and the second, doesn't. Any ideas...

What are the settings for recording data into the database (in the job options - operation tab) ??

regards

That way you still get the Job, session, volume, and media type information saved, but not the listing of all files and directories backed up.

So how can i get the listings of the files and directories?

I'm sorry, my mistake, I read one thing and thought another.

They way you have it does record all files and directories.

The default for a Merge is to merge all sessions, so it should merge sessions 1 and 2, and an error should be recorded in the activity log when it fails to merge session 2. Here are few things to try.
Run a Scan just to see what sessions on tape to see if it finds session 2.
Enable the debug for the Job Engine faq478-4383.
Then run a merge of just session 2.

Was the backup done by the same system that you want to restore from?
Was verify turned on for the backup?

Yes and no verify wasn't turned on.. have kinda decided to got to SQL and ARC9... instead of solving problem.. just ignoring it..
