Hey folks,
I've got a couple systems with Windows 2003 Server and ARCServe 2000 build 1018. I want to install the SP5 upgrade for ARCServe 2000 on those systems, but CA's site says that SP5 is for NT and 2000 only.

Has anyone installed this on 2003 Server, and if so - did it work / kill anything?

Thanks,
- Dave

AS2000 was never inteded to be used, or supported on XP or Win2003.

Uh huh, but the question was if it killed anything by installing SP5 on a Windows 2003 Server system.

The answer is the software was never certified or supported on Win2003 so the question you ask is negated.

Unless of course you wanna entrust your business data to an unsupported piece of software on a platform it was never tested, or certified for, in which case - go ahead - good luck !

Point noted.

Now to try to convince the boss that he has to spend money...

Easy ... just say, you know if that server crapped itself, we might not be able to restore it because the software were running on it doesn't support the operating system.

If the boss doesn't 'get it', you're working for the wrong company.

That aside, it may be worth using the built in OS backup program until you get sorted, cos you can bet if it goes wrong it won't be the boss that takes the blame.
