I've permissioned my back-up user account with all relevent domain admin accounts etc, but trying to run the client I get 'Failed to configure your server'

Not very descriptive error message and I'm stumped how to get the **** thing to work.

Any tips warmly welcomed

Chris

I've got the same problem :(

Odd thing is, my configuration has been working for the past four months up untill a couple of weeks ago.

I have 3 exchange 5.5 servers backed up by the same backup account. There are no problems on two of the servers, but one will only backup at DB level, not brick.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the client but get the same 'Failed to configure your server' message.
The account has all the relevant domain rights, and is service admin at site, configuration, and server levels. The mailbox is initialised, and the account is the same used to run the exchange services. I've even added the IsExchange2000=0 entry to the registry but still no joy.

I'm starting to think its maybe not the agent but a problem with exchange!

The exchverify.log in the agent folder will give you the exact reason for the problem.

Typically you will see a MAPI call going from the agent to the exchange and the return from the exchange in that log.

Check what is the MAPI call and the return and check the Microsoft site, you will find the problem you are facing.
