Archive mail based on recieved date

I have read the discussion on how Outlook archives mail based on the last modified date. My problem is that the client does a brick level backup which changes the last modified date and auto archive doesn't select any files.

One solution I read was to create an Inbox rule based on recieved date to move the email messages to another folder.

Try as I may I can't see a way to move messages in the inbox (or another folder) that is older than 6months to an an archive.pst file

I know someone has done this and made it work, Can you please post details.
