Hi All,

I have a WinXP SP2 machine with an Intel Core 2 Duo chipset. From the tests that I have ran and other research, the chipset will support x64.

WinXP (host) is running 32-bit, and I want to install a Vista Ultimate x64 client under Virtual PC 2007. However when I try to boot it from the ISO I get a message in WinPE saying that it's not the right architecture.

Anyone help me out with this? Seems to be a Virtual issue more than anything else - any ideas?

Cheers,

Steve.

Maybe VMWare allows this setup? Their VMWare server product is free, and does run perfectly on Desktop-grade Windows (XP/Vista) Couldn't thest it now as I don't have a x64 capable processor over here (@work) :-(

Hi TonHu,

Just after I posted I thought the same thing. Using a trial of VM Workstation and it appears to be working fine.

Bizzare that MS Virtual PC 2007 can't get Vista x64 working on a EM64T processor but VMWare can!
Microsoft for you!

Cheers,

Steve.

That's why I avoided Virtual PC 200x like the plague for years, it just another 'me too' product bought by MS :-( with lousy features as well
