Hey, I have an Aptiva that I can't get to boot up. When I turn it on it just hangs on the Aptiva screen and sits there forever. No matter what you do it won't advance past the Aptiva boot up screen. Help would be greatly appreciated. Scotty Mac a.k.a smaxted

You don't half get some problem PC's at your place.

You're going to have to start stripping, the puter down to essentials. So boot skinny, I stick RAM, graphics card, Kboard, HDD, Monitor, best leave the CPU in situ. If something changes then it will provide a clue.

Let's see what happens if anything, at least I hope you can hear or better still see the CPU cooler fan whirring. Error! Keyboard not attached. Press F1 to continue........??????

Please tell me if the answer I gave was helpful or a bus ride out. Without your feedback I won't know.

I have the computer all striped down to the bare essentials, but still the same problem..it wont make it past the aptiva screen. Scotty Mac a.k.a smaxted

I have done everything possible for trouble shooting. I have changed ram, changed ram slots, taken out all pci/isa cards, changed hard drive, removed hard drive, unplugged all cd drives. I have done everything and it still wont make it past the Aptiva screen..anyone know of anything else I could try? Does anybody know what the problem could be? Thanks for the help! You need to get to the BIOS to change anything. Try hitting escape while it is booting. Try another keyboard, no mouse, no HD, no cdrom, one stick of memory (if 168 pin).

Thanks for the help Franklin97355 but I still can't get the Aptiva to get past that Aptiva IBM screen...i think there maybe something up with the mobo....any other suggestions would be great. Scotty Mac a.k.a smaxted
