I have W2K Pro on my DSL linked PC running a 10 user web/ftp server. I was hit with the CODE RED worm, and shut it down. I then applied SP1 (from the MS site) and the security patch. Now I have no web server at all! When I go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools and click on the IIS Administration icon, NOTHING HAPPENS. It will not execute! At the same time I find that when I go to Windows Explorer and right-click on a hard drive and select "Properties" I also get NOTHING -- well in both cases there is an instant of "hour-glass" a tiny bit of disk grinding, then NOTHING.
Now before you all assume that CODE RED did this to my system, I will explain that months ago I applied SP1 and it did the SAME THING. So I re-installed W2K from scratch.
What should I do? I can find nothing on this in the MSKB.
