Does anyone know of a way to log what is happening in the background while this message is being displayed?

TIA

On our network when a user logs into an XP machine for the first time it can take over five minutes to complete the login. If you logoff or reboot it logs you back in just fine, also it only happens on XP builds and not 2000. It seems there is a process that is looping or not connecting or something when the users profile is being created. I was hoping to track in a log file what is going on when that is happening. When it happens it sits at the, "Applying user settings" screen for most of the time.

If anyone has any advice at all I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
