Hi, I have developed a scanning software in vfp 6.0 with the help of kodak activeX.
I loaded the software on windows 95/98 machines and it works fine. However when loaded on DELL machines win 2000.
It takes a long time to load.
Can anyone suggest anything to help with this problem.

Did you register the activex on the DELL? Mike Gagnon

I have seen something similar.

This may or may not be the same thing, but when I had my development code etc based on my D: drive, and installed the application on some clients NT/2000/XP machines, VFP kept trying to talk to the D: drive while the app loaded and sometimes when it ran - I never found out why! and I had removed all drive specific info from everywhere (dataenvironments, forms, reports).

If the user had a CD rom on his D:, the system would generally take a few moments to figure out that it had or had not got a disc at that moment - then carry on regardless.

My solution was simple in the end, I moved current all developments to my C: drive.

I know this sounds barmy, but it's real, I was reminded of it last Friday - I had to load an old version of a system so that some data from 1999/2000 could be read - and the users machine wouldn't run the system unless there was a cd in the drive!

Try putting a CD in yours and see if it does the same thing!

Regards

Griff
